Africa – the continent’s second largest after Eurasia, part of the world. The area of 29200 square kilometers. square. and, together with the islands lying off the coast of Africa – 30.3 million km. square. The population of Africa is 933 million people. In western Africa, bordered by the Atlantic Ocean, to the north – the Mediterranean Sea, the east and north-east – the Indian Ocean and Red Sea. In the area of Africa is situated 55 states, including three of the monarchy, one (Nigeria) – The Federal Republic, the rest – the republic. All countries except South Africa, developing countries, most of them the poorest in the world (70% of the population lives below the poverty line).

The maximum distance of Australia: North – South – 3138 km East – West – 3983 km. Coastline – 27,948 km. Highest point – 2,228 m (Kosciuszko). The lowest point – 16 m below sea level (Lake Eyre). Population (2002) – 19,8 mln. The average population density – 2.57 persons/km2. The number of independent states – 1.

OCEANIA
Area (Dry Valley) – 820 km2.
The maximum distance of water surface of the oceans: North – South – 10 500 km East – West – 14000 km. Highest point – 3764 m (G. Cook). Population (1994) – 10,2 mln. The average population density – 12,4 persons/km2. The number of independent states and territories – 34.
